In case you are sick of both political parties…
I am.
The Libertarian presidential candidate is Michael Badnarik. I’m pretty sure he holds views that the majority of Americans hold. And yet, because there is very little media coverage of the Libs, nobody knows this.
New American Myth analyzes and compares Badnarik’s platform to Bush and Kerry’s.
And although I wouldn’t completely follow the Libertarian party line (on issues like the Iraq War and illegal immigration), I am very tempted to join and vote for Badnarik.
The donkeys and elephants have lost the battle for my heart.
About the night before last…
The kid is finally asleep. So is Bronwynn. For the last 72 hours she has monopolized the computer, but I don’t blame her. It is HER computer. I just use it.
But now it’s my turn. It’s hot in this tin can trailer. The bedroom has the air conditioner. I have a fan blowing hot air inside. So it’s probably 95 degrees in here. (Without the fan, it can get to be at least 115!)
I haven’t looked at t_t_tanya’s page yet, but I need to tell my side of the story. (Hee hee.)
Actually what was billed as “An Evening to Not Remember” actually was far from forgettable in an alcohol-imbibing sort of way. My 30th birthday party at C&B was loads of fun even though I didn’t come close to getting buzzed, and therefore my toned-down antics were a far cry from my 27th (2001, where I am reminded by Bronwynn that a drunk chick gave me a lapdance, my memory is still fuzzy on that one). As a matter of fact, sobriety cursed almost all of my happy guests. Even Jeff was in control of his faculties the entire night.
Bronwynn and I got there about 9.55. Tim from Film Circle said he got there at 9.30, the original start time, so he was waiting there for a while not knowing anybody. Sorry about that Tim. Sandy was babysitting and we didn’t get out the door until 9.45. Jim, Tanya and Jeff was there (since 8.30) and Toni was getting ready to play the hits.
C&B regular Netta started off the karaoke with “Strawberry Wine”, and I started to writing down the “setlist” for memory’s sake.
30th Birthday Head Count: 12
Looks like it is 12, including the very enthusiastic t_t_tanya, who will be with hubby since he’ll be working the door. I’m assuming coolchicky1974 will also make an appearance with Mel as well. I guess I’ve got to call Jeff to confirm he knows. I don’t have Danny C.’s number or email, but if someone wants to forward a message to him, that would be great- And we will try to get “In the End” into the Karaoke mix. Also confirming are Brad, Tim, Andi and Brian, and Tanya Ro., which will set up the historic meeting of the two “Tanya R’s”.
Anybody else who would like to come, I would welcome it. You can’t have too many defense witnesses!
On the subject of movies: glaring ommisions guaranteed.
IN 30 YEARS, THE 100 GREATEST MOVIES I HAVE EVER SEEN
Sure to be an argument-starter (against me), here are the 100 greatest among the many thousands of movies I have even seen in my life. The list was pared down from 128 nominees. Glaring ommisions are fully guaranteed. The list represents what I feel is the best in cinema achievement, artistic expression, and entertainment value. You will find movies I’ve loved since I was a kid, along with those I’ve discovered as an adult.
The 28 “runners-up” in alphabetical order are A Hard Day’s Night, Alien, Boyz N the Hood, The Breakfast Club, The Color Purple, Dead Again, Europa, Europa, Fantasia, Gandhi, Gods and Monsters, In the Bedroom, The Matrix, Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Nashville, National Lampoon’s Animal House, Norma Rae, The Pianist, Planet of the Apes (1968), The Princess Bride, Run Lola Run, Secrets and Lies, Sixteen Candles, Stand By Me, The Story of Louis Pasteur, The Ten Commandments, Toy Story, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory.
In case I’m on your friends list (thank you!), I’ve placed the movies listed in the comments thread.
I wouldn’t want your page to be a mile long!
“A Night to Not Remember or Those Daring Young Men and Their Drinking Green Things”
Okay, I’m throwing this up there to see if it’ll stick.
My precious hours of twentysomethingness are dwindling down now to the low hundreds, and a Saturday night (8/28) to Sunday morning (8/29) would be appropos to observe my 30th at C&B.
(Leanne’s 30th is in two months, but she deserves her own party too!)
So maybe we can tentatively set up something at the bar. This is what happens when a birthday comes 15 days after the anniversary. August is certainly a very celebratory month for me, as my mother and my sister also have birthdays.
Please help me say say goodbye to my twenties, the decade that truly did suck more than my teens.

Hi all,
It’s coming and I can’t stop it. And you too can be there when it happens.
When the clock strikes twelve on Saturday night, it will be 8/29, my birthday. Time to grow up right? WRONG. If it’s anything like my 27th three years ago, hopefully the night will be a pleasant blur. And designated drivers will be delighted by the fact that they will witness and remember the histronics of the night with a perfect memory (unlike me).
Yes, friends, it’s at Cheers and Beers. And there will be karaoke. And I will sing at least one falsetto!
Please wear black and bring no gifts.
Please reply back, so we can give Toni a head count.
Thanks,
Your foolish friend Dan T.

The first time I’ve put my picture on line.
There we are. Me at my most Grizzly-Adams-est early this year. (2/29 to be exact)
My appearance prompted my other friend non-TT Tanya to remark that I had the “Kevin Smith look going.” I took that as a major compliment.
Now I think I’ll go shave.
Semi-anonymous blathering is good for the soul.
Well, I made it to Live Journal, past the gauntlet of bloggers and their sharpened pencils. And now I have nothing to say.
I guess I want to do this so that I don’t have to worry so much about the quality of my writing here. I can be a little more rough around the edges. I can be a bit more sloppy and less anal-retentive.
I have a much less anonymous website that no one reads. Mainly because I have absolutely no content! I just comment on random links.
Actually, I don’t think the site’s up. I still need to pay my minuscule hosting bill, which is a low priority bill since I have no income at the moment.
I joined because I wanted to comment on Tanya’s entries. This was so I could communicate with my sister-in-law without revealing my pathetic and ridiculous fear of telephone conversation. You wouldn’t believe how shaky my hands get when I have to call my mom!
